They should have the painter paint each room after the rest of it has already been renovated Ideally, the painter should only paint the rooms that have already been renovated. The main reason for this is most types of renovation work will create dust. If a painter paints a room and the homeowner then has another contractor do some renovations to that room that produce dust (such as installing an island in the kitchen) whilst the paint is still drying, that dust could stick to the wet paint and get stuck in it when it dries.
